Textile has always been a constant thread in our lives. Like threads, artists and individuals, shift and evolve. This notion of transformation is mirrored through artist practices utilising the medium to reflect lived experiences, societal changes and changes of forms, materials, or concepts, allowing artworks to evolve alongside the artists, visually archiving these states of transformation as a form of artistic metamorphosis. Metamorphosis explores the artist’s role as a bearer of transformation.

Anchored in the metaphor of the artist as alchemist. For this exhibit, Timeless Textiles Gallery has curated works that reflects personal growth and evolution alongside the gallery evolution over the last 15 years. The title of this exhibition Metamorphosis urges us to consider the variety of ways artists have changed and evolved both recently and over the last 15 years. Through highlighting how artists challenge personal and cultural narratives through their reinterpretations of their original works.
