Philodendron leaf sheath.Random weave basketry – My preferred thread is one I have made from the natural fibres around me. This might be feathers from my chooks, or plants from my garden or collected while walking the dog. Creating with the natural materials in abundance around me aligns with my permaculture values, embedding and balancing me within my environment. Random weave basketry is an act of resilience. At first there is self-doubt, of pushing into the unsure, relying on hope. Slowly, trusting in the process and one’s self, it begins to form. Breathe and continue, small steps, quieten the mind.
