Dreaming of Shibori II

Handwoven on hand loom from sericin silk, 24 carat gold leaf applied. – 1m x 88cm Handwoven on small hand loom, using sericin silk. Sericin is the yellow gum produced by the bombyx mori caterpillars which sticks the silk cocoonsd together. In normal silk processes, this gum is chemically removed to produce white silk. The patterning replicates shibori techniques but is also inspired by gum leaves.
