Golden Shadows

This silk has been handwoven in a village situation in Vietnam. It has been Arashi shibori dyed with pure gold leaf applied. – 2 individual handwoven silk lengths each 11.5cm long. The front piece is 70cm wide and the back is 90cm wide. The silk still contains some of the sericin which enable the silk to absorb more dye. The country weavers do not worry if there are a few mishaps in their weaving so I have accepted this as part of the culture and covered the errors with 24 carat gold leaf.
