Harmonious Order
Visiting Japan in early 2019, I was there when the retirement of the Emperor was announced, and the date of accession by his son Naruhito. The new ‘gengo’ selected to describe the ideals and aspirations intended for the new era is Reiwa. This means ‘Beautiful Harmony’ or ‘Harmonious Order’. What a wonderful aim for a culture.
Such a different perspective.
