Handmade paper, Kintsugi gold thread, oil pastel.Embossed handmade paper, sculpturally formed. Wrapped kintsugi thread. – My artwork “Buried Treasure” is not only a reflection on nature’s absolute perfect beauty, displayed by embossed paper twisting and curving as a leaf lays dormant on the floor of the bush, but I also deliberately chose to use vintage Kintsugi gold thread to capture a perfect leaf while at the same time demonstrating the echo of delight I feel when I find a stunning and perfect found object. This beautiful fine thread has a gold lustre to it that captures light at different angles and has a borrowed history from the traditional Japanese technique of mending cracked pottery. 200mm x 200mm
