Liz Powell: Buried Threads, Like a Secret in the Dark

Mulberry paper, ink, threads, gold leaf. Collograph printing, tanin dyeing, stitching – Threads can represent lines of meaning, experience, something that can be tracked or followed once they are teased out of their surrounds, if they can be seen. They are fine lines that might be difficult to trace or even to find. Partially seen threads can be mysterious, not easily followed, buried amongst a welter of other information. Thus, buried threads can represent secrets that are concealed in the dark. 20cm x 20cm
