An Art Quilt Adventure : Lois Parish Evans
Course Overview
Have you looked at a landscape and wanted to capture elements of it in an art quilt? Or combine elements from several photographs to elicit the personal meaning of a landscape? Or perhaps wanted to create an imaginary landscape?
In this workshop participants will use design principles to develop and
create two small original designs. Lois will provide some basic shapes and motifs that can be used, however if you have a photograph/s that you would like to use feel free to bring it.
In this workshop we will:
1.Use photographs of landscapes as inspiration and explore ways in textile art to express how we see the landscape.
2.Landscape of the imagination. We will also look at ways of creating an imaginary landscape art quilt.
To achieve this participants will learn and explore a variety of
techniques:-
*basic design skills
*raw edge applique
*hand colouring with Inktense pencils and paints
*free machine quilting/stitching
Participants will use different fabrics, threads, Inktense pencils and fabric
paints to build and create their own small Art Quilt.
Artistic skills are not a pre-requisite, just an openness to ‘playing’ and
exploring art materials. Basic skill on a sewing machine necessary.
