Dreaming of Shibori I

Handwoven on a small hand loom from sericin silk, 24 carat gold leaf applied. – 1m x 88cm Handwoven on small hand loom, using sericin silk, this is silk straight from the cocoon, which has not been degummed. In a normal silk process, this yellow coloured sericin is chemically removed leaving white silk. During extensive tours in Thailand, I was impressed by the Thai custom of “Making Merit”. This inspired me to use the gold leaf from these ceremonies to enhance the beautiful natural silk. I tried to replicate a shibori pattern.
