The strange made intimate with Susan Doherty
Course Overview
This Workshop is for playing and allowing your inner child to resurface, making a garden together and throwing light on the steps to this building with discussions and sharing thoughts and the what and how things influence you.
It will be a little bounce into exploring the makeup and the concepts of assemblage art with discussions around my exhibition in The Gold Series and the Poetry of Flowers. We shall be exploring the re-contextualizing objects through our artist imagination and combining them using invocative techniques. De-constructing and reconstructing everyday objects into a new meaning, and re-interpreting their significance.
Our garden of flowers made together will make the familiar strange.
Workshop
During the two-day workshop we will be learn about:
- Finding objects that speak to you and why
- Making and discussing the making
- What our responsibility as artists are and the important building blocks used in our making; and (e.g. ethics?/stability?/ longevity?)
- how re-interpretation of found objects makes work perfectly imperfect.
