Stitched Up
The Wednesday Makers’ group contributed to the Stitched Up Project – remembering and celebrating the lives of 193 girls who were inmates of the Newcastle Industrial School 1867-71 .
A hand embroidered and stitched page was created for each girl, representing her life at the institution. The resulting seven volumes of fabric books were included in the Stitched Up exhibition, partnered by Timeless Textiles Gallery and The Lock-Up in June-July 2017.
