No Waste basketry with Trudi Nisbet
Tired of seeing so much packaging waste accumulate? What about all those electrical cords, phone chargers that no longer work or are outdated ???
Give all that single use packaging and outdated technology a new creative and functional life. No experience is needed to weave all this waste into striking coiled baskets.
Trudi is a textile and fibre artist with a focus on creating traditional arts and crafts with a modern interpretation. Her love of colour and texture shines through in the simplicity of her designs…
In recent years Trudi has embraced imperfections in her creative process and found this to truly open the door to creativity and this is also reflected in Trudi’s approach to teaching. Trudi’s philosophy “there are no mistakes, only design elements” makes for a very relaxed and flexible learning environment. Trudi also recognizes that her Early Childhood diploma in teaching has given her not only a great foundation for teaching, but has highlighted the significance of having fun while learning.
Trudi can supply all material, however you are encouraged to bring along the following used material:
Clothes you can’t bare to throw out because you love the fabric. Jeans are particularly great.
Packaging tape ( the sort that is generally wrapped around boxes – flat hard plastic and about 1.5 cm)
The string netted bags that often are packaged with onions and oranges (these are excellent for basketry)
PLUS a small material $5
