Course Overview
Learn how to create a unique art doll ……The “Garden Threads” dolls are inspired by the colours in my garden or from travels. You may have a favourite garden or a particular spot in your own garden which you would like to celebrate.
Use slow stitching to create a garden “reference” on this simple assemblage doll which uses twigs/sticks for arms and legs.
Materials List
Equipment:
-Hand sewing kit ( scissors, needles, pins)
– Pencil, paper and paper scissors.
– Access to a sewing machine ( one or two for a class group will be sufficient) – straight stitch only .
Materials : Full Kit ($20) or bring your own ( see list below) …
- Kits can be provided $20 for all fabrics, threads, wool stuffing , and treated sticks. These kits are inspired by famous gardens or my own spring garden.
- If you are bringing your own – 40cm x 40cm approximately neutral coloured homespun cotton or calico ; Small pieces of fabric in colours reflecting your chosen garden palette; 20cm x 10cm piece of stretch fabric or cheesecloth in preferred colour; Stranded embroidered thread or Perle #12 thread in selected colours to match/contrast your colour palette. Wool or fibre stuffing (approx. 150-200 grams) . 4 small sticks
Workshop Terms
While our fibre art workshops are usually held in the gallery's historically significant workshop space, the workshop venue may change according to the needs and wishes of the artist tutor. Likewise, the times of the workshops may vary depending on the type of workshop and its presentation.
Timeless Textiles Gallery will, at its own discretion, where a participant is unable to attend a fibre art workshop, an exchange or credit note will be made available or a refund of the deposit or payment in accordance with the following Workshop Refund Policy.
Major commitments must be met, and in fairness to all, the policy concerning the refund is:
Cancellations 3 months prior to workshop date - refund 80% fees paid
Cancellations 2 months prior to workshop date- refund 50% fees paid.
Cancellations 1 month prior to workshop date- no refund.
