Brooching the Subject #9 : Seasons

2025 is the 9^th year of “Brooching the Subject “. How amazing – from a suggestion by renowned Netherlands artist, the late Els van Baarle that Timeless Textiles should run a brooch competition to our ninth much anticipated annual brooch event.

Brooches  have been with us for a long time – as objects of adornment, status symbols, secret messages,  signifiers of identity  and belonging  and even declarations of  personal values. 

The challenge for artists is to create a  small wearable  artwork with maximum dimension 10cm,  use  a fibre or textile art technique and interpreting the theme : Seasons.

Many of us love the change of seasons.  Some seasons are meant for growth and abundance while others are meant for rest and resetting….   Will you be creating a brooch to celebrate your favourite season  or will it be a brooch ‘for all seasons’ ? Perhaps you will use “seasons” as a metaphor for the cycle of life? We look forward to your interpretation of the 2025 theme for BTS#9 .

1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd prizes will be awarded by an independent judge.
1 $460 – three day workshop at Timeless Textiles or artworks to that value
2 $300- two day workshop at Timeless Textiles or artworks to that value
3 $150- one day workshop at Timeless Textiles or artworks to that value
