2 Day Workshop – Introduction to Sculptural Weft Twining with Lissa de Sailles
Course Overview
Over two days participants will learn how to make small works
that can be used for functional or non functional baskets or
a series of sculptures.
You will learn:
- Three ways to start a project
- How to do two simple borders
- How to attach warp threads to an object
- How to shape and control the warp threads
- How to create surface tension with the weft threads
- How to do two, three and four strand twining
Materials List
Please bring: found objects-including driftwood, seed pods stones, shells, personal ephemera or anything that you wish to attach your work to.
Spray bottle
Old towel
Apron
Sharp scissors and secateurs
Note pad and pen
Lissa will supply: Paper string, Korean paper, a variety of twine, fabric, locally harvested natural materials and found objects.
Material fee: $40
Workshop Terms
While our fibre art workshops are usually held in the gallery's historically significant workshop space, the workshop venue may change according to the needs and wishes of the artist tutor. Likewise, the times of the workshops may vary depending on the type of workshop and its presentation.
Timeless Textiles Gallery will, at its own discretion, where a participant is unable to attend a fibre art workshop, an exchange or credit note will be made available or a refund of the deposit or payment in accordance with the following Workshop Refund Policy.
Major commitments must be met, and in fairness to all, the policy concerning the refund is:
Cancellations 3 months prior to workshop date - refund 80% fees paid
Cancellations 2 months prior to workshop date- refund 50% fees paid.
Cancellations 1 month prior to workshop date- no refund.
