Ines Seidel

Artist Statement

Ines is best known for her creative fibre experiments and altered books. Her favourite materials are those that are apparently no longer useful, but are still rich with associations. Think discarded books, old newspapers, plastic bags or cast-off textiles. Ines’ background in communication and linguistic studies often is visible in the objects she creates. Yet, her approach to fibres remains very playful and relies on the basic techniques she learned as a child, such as weaving or crocheting. Ines has taught workshops in paper art and experimental drawing in Germany.
