Welsh Quilt
Bergschaf wool Wet felted – I was born in London and have now lived in Wales for over half my life. My father’s family were born in Wales but never lived there during my lifetime. I do now feel Welsh but I have never lost my English accent. Both my grandmothers initiated my interest in textiles, patiently teaching me to knit, crochet and sew. Much of my textile work is now inspired by my Welsh heritage, referencing traditional quilt patterns. This piece uses the log cabin motif, and the colours of the diverse landscape that surrounds me are revealed by slashing and manipulating the felt. 33 x 33 x 4
