"There is no pain so great as the memory of joy” Aeschylus

This work demonstrates the importance of context. A somewhat playful image of Glenese Keavneys’ weaving becomes something else when you know it is actually a close up of a mourning cap.

Herinnering is Dutch for memory, a term I used in my wedding vows to highlight the importance of continuing to make many and good memories together in our shared life journey. As we will experience the challenges of life, our memories are all that will be left when one of us dies.

European Birch panel, archival print on cotton rag, encaustic layer.
