Carole Douglas: Four Bag Night – lockdown chaos

Natural dyed fabric, threads and fibres, tea bags. Layering, stitching – Four Bag Night is one of a series of works ‘101 Days of Solitude’ made during the last Lockdown. The series is an account of coming to terms with solitude, grief and uncertainty. Nights were often sleepless as the chaos of the times descended, I was never a tea drinker yet it became a ritual, something to nurture and bring comfort. Over those months I saved every teabag – each one holding a moment in time. The cloth is tea and iron dyed, the black holds indigo in its depths, loose threads are perhaps the unravelling of the known. 20cm x 20cm
