Course Overview

Learn how to stretch your imagination to make intriguing, intricate handmade wearables and sculptural objects using basic basketry skills.

In this workshop you will learn a variety of techniques including twining, beading, looping, knotting, binding and braiding to create beautiful and imaginative pieces for bodily adornment or decorative objects.

What you will learn:

  • How to twine, loop, braid, bead, knot and bind threads.
  • How to attach threads to found objects to make beautiful collectible objects.
  • How to make a variety of projects with unique designs.
  • How to extend your art/craft practice to make small sculptures and wearables.


$40 material fee. 


Teacher Profile

Lissa was introduced to fibre art as a young child and has continued to develop her craft and art practice for over fifty years. Over the past five years she has been awarded several scholarships which have enabled her to continue her basketry and fibre art studies overseas.

Lissa now spends her time in her studio in the Shoalhaven developing new work for exhibitions and workshops and was recently awarded a 2021 Georges River Artist in Residence in Sydney.

Workshop Terms

While our fibre art workshops are usually held in the gallery's historically significant workshop space, the workshop venue may change according to the needs and wishes of the artist tutor. Likewise, the times of the workshops may vary depending on the type of workshop and its presentation.

Timeless Textiles Gallery will, at its own discretion, where a participant is unable to attend a fibre art workshop, an exchange or credit note will be made available or a refund of the  deposit or payment in accordance with the following Workshop Refund Policy.

Major commitments must be met, and in fairness to all, the policy concerning the refund is:
Cancellations 3 months prior to workshop date - refund 80% fees paid
Cancellations 2 months prior to workshop date- refund 50% fees paid.
Cancellations 1 month prior to workshop date- no refund.
