Screen Printing with Anne Leon
Discover the joy of designing and printing your own images onto fabric, paper or timber, over three days.
This workshop is suitable for beginners, or the more experienced artist who wishes to explore the medium further.
All processes of screen-printing will be covered, including the art of photo-emulsion application, stripping your screen, and printing with solvent-free inks onto your choice of substrates: from t-shirts and textiles to paper and plywood.
This three day workshop will give you plenty of time to get your design photographically exposed onto your screen, and start printing.
The diversity of Anne’s work, form watercolors to fabric designs, reflects a rich artistic career, spanning over 30 years.
Born in South Africa, Anne studied Fine Arts at the national University, and immigrate with her family to Australia. In 1973 she continued her studies at Seven Hills College of art in Brisbane, and graduated with a Diploma of Fine Arts in 1975.
Anne utilized a wide variety of techniques in her work, including silkscreen and block printing, painting and dyeing. She has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows within Australia, and has work in international collections.
The quantity and versatility of her work have earned her numerous large commissions, from interior designers, architects, couturiers, domestic and international.
Anne established a fabric design studio in Byron Bay in 2002, and recently moved to Mullumbimby, where she continue to design and produce bespoke textiles, and maintain her own Fine Art practice. Being a well respected and accomplished textile artist, Anne conducts workshops and classes sharing her expertise with students of all ages
What to bring:
-Wear old clothes and comfy shoes!
-bring at least 1 or 2 A4 designs you have created with you, and ensure they are in Black and white.
-no multi-coloured or pencil drawings!
-your choice of substrates: fabric, paper, wood
(if printing onto fabric, natural is best: cotton, hemp, linen etc.
pre-wash prior to the workshop.)
-scissors, masking tape, pencils, paper, and folder for notes.
Material fee $10 payable to the artist
While workshops are usually held in the gallery's historically significant workshop space, the workshop venue may change according to the needs and wishes of the artist tutor. Likewise, the times of the workshops may vary depending on the type of workshop and its presentation.
Timeless Textiles Gallery will, at its own discretion, where a participant is unable to attend a workshop, an exchange or credit note will be made available or a refund of the deposit or payment in accordance with the following Workshop Refund Policy.
Major commitments must be met, and in fairness to all, the policy concerning the refund is:
Cancellations 3 months prior to workshop date - refund 80% fees paid
Cancellations 2 months prior to workshop date- refund 50% fees paid.
Cancellations 1 month prior to workshop date- no refund.
